Inspired by the poem “Trang Giang” of Huy Can, the River portrays the sorrow of humanity throughout four seasons representing four verses: Spring, Summer, Fall, Winter. Each season has its own color but all of them bring the feelings of loneliness and slight sadness inspired by the spirit of the New Poem movement of Vietnam in the early years of last century. Spring and Summer bring the bright feeling but with an unmanned ship flowing along the river. Autumn brings the feeling of falling leaves, distant houses and an empty port. Winter with a frozen river and a darkening horizon representing cold darkness.
