About Me

I’m Charlie Nguyen, a student at Lehigh University studying Graphic Design. 


Growing up, I built Legos inspired by Youtube videos, from using current Lego bricks to crafting new parts to add to my Lego sets. I’ve always enjoyed using creativity to create and innovate new things. Later, being a designer at many clubs during high school fueled my passion for using creativity to bridge ideas between people through Graphic Design. These experiences then led me to study at Lehigh University, where I had opportunities to dive deeper into design and share my design perspectives with like-minded people. 

I’m Charlie Nguyen, a student at Lehigh University studying Graphic Design. 


Growing up, I built Legos inspired by Youtube videos, from using current Lego bricks to crafting new parts to add to my Lego sets. I’ve always enjoyed using creativity to create and innovate new things. Later, being a designer at many clubs during high school fueled my passion for using creativity to bridge ideas between people through Graphic Design. These experiences then led me to study at Lehigh University, where I had opportunities to dive deeper into design and share my design perspectives with like-minded people. 

Curious about how Design can be combined with other industries, I took a gap year and later discovered that UX Design is the answer to my question. With the power of connecting my current Design skills with Psychology, Business, and Technology, UX Design connects my passion for Design with people's needs on a larger scale. Therefore, through diving deeper into UX Design and learning how to design more intentionally, I aim to innovate to foster connection and accessibility and solve existing problems in our society.

Curious about how Design can be combined with other industries, I took a gap year and later discovered that UX Design is the answer to my question. With the power of connecting my current Design skills with Psychology, Business, and Technology, UX Design connects my passion for Design with people's needs on a larger scale. Therefore, through diving deeper into UX Design and learning how to design more intentionally, I aim to innovate to foster connection and accessibility and solve existing problems in our society.

Before coming to Lehigh, I had a chance to become a TEDx Speaker at the American International School in Vietnam. For two months, my curator and I brainstormed and decided to speak about How Art Can Become Your Soulmate. Being a TEDx Speaker helped me grow as a person and encouraged me to try new things out of my comfort zone.

From creating eye-catching posters to organizing a fashion event, working as an executive board and a designer for Lehigh Fashion Collective allowed me to blend creativity with strategy to foster the fashion community on campus. This experience helped me learn more about leadership, pitching, and active listening to students to foster community at Lehigh.

Vinh Hoi Dong Primary School

During gap year, I collaborated with my friends during my gap year to organize a volunteering trip to Vinh Hoi Dong Primary School in An Giang, Vietnam. Throughout 3 months, we fundraised 15 million Vietnam Dong to purchase gifts and establish scholarships for underprivileged students at Vinh Hoi Dong Primary School. Being an organizer of this meaningful trip motivated me to use what I learned at university to make positive impacts on not only communities in Vietnam but also all over the world.

Throughout the trip, My team raised $502 to provide the shelter with rice, cooking oil, and washing powder. I also helped orphans learn more about their hometowns by guiding them in drawing many of Hue's historic buildings and landscapes. This experience deepened my appreciation for art and community service and inspired me to create a meaningful impact on surrounding people.

As a person who has been practicing this habit for nearly 6 years, I can say that every time I take a walk, I'm still surprised about things I discover in my town (hopefully not snakes or spiders in the future ._.)
