About
Inspired by the detonation of two atomic bombs in Hiroshima and Nagasaki in 1945, Fussion-Fission describes the impact of nuclear power on humankind by depicting two reactions: fusion&fission.
Design Analysis:
The Fusion, as the two left artworks, represents the atomic bombing of Hiroshima (six pieces in the left square show the date the city was bombed: 6/8/1945). The Fission, as the two right artworks, represents the atomic bombing of Nagasaki (nine pieces in the right square show the date the city was bombed: 9/8/1945). Combining all the pieces from these squares, we have 15. Multiplying with 10,000, we have 150,000, which is the minimum number of victims in the atomic bombings of these two cities.
On a 10x8-inch paper scale, the distance between two squares is 8 inches, which equals the multiple of three digits: 4, 2, 1. Adding these three digits together in a constant (421) gives us the distance between Nagasaki and Hiroshima.
